In a recent incident, thieves in Japan reportedly mand to steal around 6000 hygiene masks from a hospital as country faces a mass short and soaring up of prices online amid dely coronavirus outbreak. Four boxes full of face masks disappeared from a locked stor facility at Japanese Red Cross hospital in western port city of Kobe, according to authorities. An official reportedly said that y still have a large number of masks to continue ir daily operations at hospital. Police have initiated an investigation into matter as y suspect thieves intend to resell masks, as per reports.

Masks sold out at discount rates

In a bid to take preventive measures, masks have been sold out at many drug and discount stores as infections have risen in Japan. At least 88 more cases have been confirmed of coronavirus on February 18 in cruise ship Diamond Princess quarantined off Japanese coast. Japanese authorities h quarantined cruise ship in Yokohama on February 4 after a previous passenger was tested positive for dely coronavirus.

Authorities faced criticism

government h reportedly said earlier that all passengers on Diamond Princess h been tested for coronavirus as countries started repatriating ir onboard citizens. Recently, South Korea has also anunced that it would evacuate its citizens from cruise ship in Japan. Meanwhile, Japanese authorities have faced criticism for its handling of situation with dozens of new cases being discovered every day since ship h arrived in early February. However, Japanese health minister, Katsubu Kato h reassured again on February 18 that passengers who tested negative of coronavirus, will be allowed to leave Diamond Princess from February 19. He furr told reporters that medical officials have “done tests for everyone”.
