Japanese PM Abe discusses Tokyo Olympics with US President Trump
Japanese PM Shinzo Abe explained the delay of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 to the US President Donald Trump, said top government spokesperson Yoshihide Suga.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe explained delay of Tokyo Olympics 2020 to United States President Donald Trump on March 24. top government spokesperson Yoshihide Suga, also said that Abe proposed to maintain close cooperation between leers. Reportedly, Trump also responded to news of Olympics being delayed to next year as ‘very hard, but wonderful decision’.
Tokyo Olympics 2020 has been postponed from July 24 to summer of next year amid increasing concerns of coronavirus outbreak. However, official statement did t mention updated schedule of games. Before an official confirmation, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe h said on March 24 that after his talks with International Olympics Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach on March 24, y have agreed on postponing Tokyo Olympics 2020 by one year.

Games have t been cancelled but will take place by summer of 2021. Olympic Flame which arrive in Tokyo last week would still remain at same place. After previously resisting request by several officials around world, Abe has said that delaying of event has w become unavoidable if 2020 Games cant be held in a complete manner amid dely coronavirus outbreak.
official statement re, "In present circumstances and based on information provided by WHO today, IOC President and Prime Minister of Japan have concluded that Games of XXXII Olympi in Tokyo must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but t later than summer 2021, to safeguard health of athletes, everybody involved in Olympic Games and international community.

‘Abe will make a proper decision’
Just a day before Japanese PM anunced postponing of Olympics, US President Donald Trump h showcased his confidence in Abe and called him a “great friend”. Trump even applauded Japanese PM for doing a “magnificent” job in deciding venue for Olympics and assured that he will make a “proper decision”. As most authorities h started calling for postponing Olympics, even US President h suggested that it should be delayed to next year while keeping in mind crisis caused by pandemic that has taken at least 17,100 lives worldwide.

Earlier, Trump h even suggested an 'idea' that Tokyo Olympics 2020 should be postponed for a year. While expressing his opinions on arrangement of event, US President said that event, which was scheduled to begin in July, should be delayed because he would “like that better than having empty stiums all over place”. However, according to reports, US President has also said that he does t plan on making recommendation to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
