The 'Ulaga Nayagan' of the Indian Cinema, Kamal Haasan has completed 60 iconic years in the Indian film Industry. The actor who will be turning 65 on November 7 this year has been a part of the film industry since the age of five. In a career spanning 60 years, Haasan has worked as a film actor, dancer, film director, screenwriter, producer, playback singer and lyricist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Bengali films. Starting his career as a child actor in the 1960’s Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma, he went on to win the President’s Gold Medal in his debut. His breakthrough as a lead actor came in the 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal. Since then, there has been no looking back.

'Ungal Naan - 60 glorious years'
On the eve of the actor's 65th birthday on November 7, his home production Raajkamal Films International has invited everyone to be a part of the auspicious day, where a three-day celebration will be flagged, and Kamal Haasan will unveil the statue of his father D Srinivasan in his hometown Paramakudi between 10.30 AM to 11 AM, as the actor’s birthday happens to be the death anniversary of his father, who was a freedom fighter and a lawyer by profession.
On the second day of the three-day celebration, Haasan will unveil the statue of his mentor, writer and director K Balachandar at the new office premises of Raajkamal Films International on November 8. The event will be attended by K Balachandar’s family and key members of the film industry and media.

In the commemoration of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi, a special screening of Haasan’s popular movie Hey Ram – An experiment with truth has been kept at 3.30 PM in Satyam Cinemas at Royapettah.

On November 9, which marks the third day of the celebration, a grand musical tribute 'Ungal Naan - 60 glorious years' has been organised that will witness the performances of musical maestro Ilayaraja, along with singer SP Balasubrahmanyam celebrating the 60 glorious years of the actor in Indian Film Industry. The star-studded event will have the gracious presence of Superstar Rajinikanth who shares a 40-year-old friendship with Kamal Haasan.
