King Felipe congratulates Colombia on peace anniversary
King Felipe of Spain on Thursday congratulated Colombia for the recent fifth anniversary of the peace agreements between the Colombian government and the FARC rebel group.

King Felipe of Spain on Thursday congratulated Colombia for the recent fifth anniversary of the peace agreements between the Colombian government and the FARC rebel group.
Meeting Colombian President Ivan Duque, Felipe extended Spain's support in maintaining peace and also in facing "other challenges of our time."

The conflict between the Colombian government and the FARC started in the 1960s as an uprising over land rights leaving around 220,000 people dead and millions displaced.
Duque and Felipe also inspected the recently completed Pumarejo bridge, which now spans the Magdalena river, Colombia's longest.

The project was led by Spanish construction company Sacyr.
The Royal Household of Spain said Felipe travelled to Colombia participate in the biannual congress of the World Jurist Association that will take place on Friday.
