Large protest against virus restrictions in Prague

The Czech Republic reimposed anti-COVID-19 measures ahead of Christmas due to rising COVID-19 infections, which included the closing of bars, restaurants and hotels.

Around 3,000 people took streets of Czech Republic's capital Prague on Sunday in protest against continuing coronavirus restrictions in country.

Czech Republic reimposed anti-COVID-19 measures ahe of Christmas due to rising COVID-19 infections, which included closing of bars, restaurants and hotels.

Restaurants and bars were allowed to reopen on December 3 as infection rates were on decline, but y started to rise again soon after that date and government decided to close m to stem numbers on December 27.

Prime Minister Andrej Babis has called move frustrating but necessary.

He said government will compensate businesses for ir losses.

Stores, except those selling essential goods such as food and medicine, are also closed throughout country and re is a daily curfew nationwide from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

restrictions have been extended until January 22nd.
