Chinese government’s leaked internal documents revealed directives of President Xi Jinping to “show absolutely mercy” on Uighur Muslims, a mirity ethnic group, in “struggle against terrorism, infiltration and separatism”. 403-p long documents, leaked to an American daily, include internal speeches by Jinping and or officials, directives and reports on surveillance and control of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.

Coercive nature of crackdown

re were directives for local officials on how to handle returning students and asking about ir family whereabouts. officials were vised to tell that ir families are in training school set up by government. coercive nature of crackdown was clear from document where officials were directed to tell students that ir behaviour could affect detention period of ir parents. After Uighur militants stabbed more than 150 people at a train station in 2014, Xi Jinping, in a series of speeches delivered to officials, urged party to follow America’s policy of “war on terror”.

Drone video surfaced

Recently, a drone video of hundreds of blindfolded men being led from a train surfaced where y can be seen sitting in courtyard outside a train station with ir hes shaved and hands tied behind ir back. y were n escorted by police officers in SWAT uniform to some or location which was captured in video. video was posted by an anymous YouTube account named ‘War on Fear’ and claimed that video was taken in China and blamed Chinese government for long-term suppression of human rights and fundamental freedom in Xinjiang Uygur Automous Region.

US criticised Pakistan

In September, United States h criticised Pakistan at 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for t highlighting "horrific conditions" of Muslim community in China. China is accused of detaining around one million Uighurs and or Turkic-speaking Muslims in Xinjiang province. World Uyghur Congress h also blamed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for t ackwledging plight of mirity community of China.
