Opponents of Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Tuesday blocked a major avenue in México City with tents, after they were prevented from setting up camp outside the presidents' office.

Among the tents, demonstrators held dolls depicting Lopez Obrador and banners reading "Get out López" or "No to communism."

The group was led by the National Anti-AMLO Front (FRENAAA). López Obrador's initials are AMLO.

FRENAAA founder member Gilberto Lozano said they want the president to resign for "treason" because of what they see as the government's poor performance.

Lopez Obrador still enjoys support through more than half of the population, but tension among his critics has grown, as the country is going through a serious economic crisis, exacerbated by the pandemic and longtime security problems.
