Madagascar FM unveils Ambassadors' Portrait Gallery at Indian Embassy in Antananarivo

Magascar's Foreign Affairs Minister Djacoba Tehindrazanarivelo inaugurated Ambassors' Portrait Gallery at Indian Embassy in Antananarivo along with Indian Ambassor Abhay Kumar on Thursday, September 17. Following ribbon-cutting ceremony, both Indian Ambassor and Foreign Minister dressed gared dignitaries.

India-Magascar Ties
As per official press te, while dressing dignitaries, Ambassor Abhay Kumar highlighted that India was one of first countries in world to establish an Embassy in Magascar. First, a Consulate General was opened in 1954 which was later upgred to an Embassy by 1960.
Ambassor Kumar mentioned that during six deces of India's diplomatic relations with Magascar, 21 Indian Ambassors have tirelessly worked to strengn bilateral ties and ded that Portrait Gallery was a humble tribute to m.

Ambassor Kumar ted that India-Magascar relationship is at an all-time high following Indian President visit in 2018, and Magascar Defence Minister's visit to India in February 2020. He also mentioned a Twitter exchange between Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister India and Foreign Minister of Magascar last month on 15th August, on occasion of India's Independence Day.

During his dress, Magascar Foreign Minister said friendly and successful ties between two countries were a result of ‘tireless work’ of countless men and women on both sides. He went on to congratulate Indian Embassy for its initiative and thanked m for allowing him to be a part of it. This was Magascar Foreign Minister's first visit to India Embassy in Antananarivo.
