Mahsa Amini's family says they're receiving death threats from Iran regime amid protests

"The regime's officials have threatened us through Instagram with fake accounts, and told the family members in Iran that if they get involved," her cousin said

family of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini who died during police custody three weeks ago due to alleged torture have claimed that family has received death threats. members of Amini's family, out of fear, have refused to participate in ongoing demonstrations against country's hardline cleric regime. woman has turned into a symbol against dece-long Iranian repression after she was arrested by Islamic Republic's morality police for improper hijab or he covering and allegedly tight trousers. 

"Our family have been under immense pressure from Islamic Republic's officials, so we don't talk to human rights organisations or channels outside of Iran and inform anyone from outside world about her passing," her cousin Erfan Mortezai told BBC during an interview taken at  border in Iraq's Kurdistan Region.

Receiving many threats over phone: Amini's cousin 

Amini's cousin furr informed that he has been receiving many threats over phone, "[saying] that if y see me in city, y will kidnap me and kill me." Amini's far, Amj Amini, h earlier blatantly accused Iranian officials of lying about her daughter's death as regime said that Amini died due to health conditions, and suffered a heart attack. Her family claimed that 22-year-old was fit, and did t have pre-existing cardiac issues. Mahsa went into a coma and died while she was under detention sparking global outr against Tehran's stringent dress code rules for women and harassment by morality police. “I wanted to see my daughter, but y wouldn't let me in," Amini's far Amj told BBC earlier. “re were bruises on her feet" and he h requested doctors to look at her feet. Police in Iran in a statement cited by state press said that Amini was t beaten to death, ding that she collapsed during a session of "justification and education." In a report that y published online, Iran's Forensic Organization claimed, “Mahsa Amini's death was t caused by blows to he and vital organs and limbs of body.” y stated that Amini’s death was related to “surgery for a brain tumour at of eight.”
