Deshadanakili Karayarilla (1986)
Padmarajan directorial was one of first movies to celebrate same-sex relationships. However, movie never established a romantic relationship between its two central characters- Sally and Nimmy. movie, starring Karthika, Shari, Mohanlal, and Urvashi in lead, narrates tale of two schoolgirls who elope during a school picnic.

Sancharram (2004)
Ligy J Pullapally directorial narrates tale of a lesbian couple, who are ostracised by ir family and society because of ir sexuality. Malayalam movie is reportedly based on a real-life lesbian couple. movie, starring Shruthi Men and Suhasini V. Nair in lead, went unticed by moviegoers.

However, movie was reportedly compared to Deepa Mehta's 1996 film Fire, which also explored same-sex relationship between its central characters, played by Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das.

Geetu Mohandas directorial narrates tale of Akbar, who is in search of his younger bror. In his trails through dingy lanes of Mumbai, he finds love in Amir, a deaf character with speech impairment
