A man was pulled alive from the rubble of the earthquake in Croatia on Tuesday, after his car was crushed under debris in the hardest-hit town of Petrinja.

A man was pulled alive from the rubble of the earthquake in Croatia on Tuesday, after his car was crushed under debris in the hardest-hit town of Petrinja.The man was pulled from the rubble amid cheers, and he was able to walk away.

The quake hit central Croatia, destroying buildings and sending panicked people fleeing into the rubble-covered streets of Petrinja, southeast of the capital Zagreb.Authorities said five people were killed, including a girl of 12.

At least 20 were injured.The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said the earthquake measured 6.3.

The same area was struck by a 5.2 quake a day earlier.
