New Delhi: An amazing reunion of a YouTuber with his Apple watch, which he accidentally had dropped in an ocean about two years ago, has not only brought surprising joy to him, but also tested the watch’s durability to its best. The kindness of a stranger led to this reunion for YouTuber Jared Brick with his lost watch in the ocean, which he had lost nearly two years ago while swimming in the British Virgin Islands. Surprisingly, Apple‘s Find My feature app led him to find his lost watch.

Following the surprising reunion, Jared Brick shared the entire story in a video post, explaining how he lost his watch to how he eventually got it back.

In his video story, he stated that in the summer of 2022, Brick and his family went on a trip to the British Virgin Islands to celebrate his son's 11th birthday, according to a report by Apple Insider.

They planned to do some scuba diving, so Brick bought Apple Watches for himself and his son to stay in touch. The watches helped check time and track their dives, some of which went over 100 feet deep. The Apple Watch is designed to work underwater up to 50 meters (164 feet), and it worked perfectly during their dives.

On the last day of their trip, Brick was swimming at a beautiful spot called The Baths on Virgin Gorda. He was jumping off boulders into the shallow waters while a friend recorded the swim. However, later he realized that his Apple Watch was no longer on his wrist.

Brick didn't notice the loss immediately because he was so caught up in the beauty of the place. When he realized the watch was missing, he used another Apple device to report it as lost using the Find My feature. The app showed a map pinpointing exactly where the watch was lost, but Brick, no longer in the area, assumed the watch was gone forever.

Eighteen months later, in December 2023, Brick got an unexpected call from a resident of Virgin Gorda named Jonathan. Jonathan had found the watch on the same beach. After charging it, the lost message with Brick's phone number popped up. Jonathan called Brick and sent him a photo of the watch. He then mailed the watch back to Brick, who lives in Felton, California, not far from Apple's headquarters.

In April 2024, almost 22 months after losing it, the Apple Watch finally arrived back to Brick. It had survived its time underwater and the 3,600-mile journey back to California. In his video, Brick showed the moment he opened the envelope and found the watch in good working order.

Brick thanked Jonathan for finding and returning the watch and praised Apple for making durable technology. "So big thank you to Jonathan in the Caribbean for finding it, contacting me, shipping it back to me ... and for Apple for making amazing technology that works," Brick said.
