Maps show impact of Australian bushfires on European countries
As thousands of people are being evacuated to safer place due to Australia’s catastrophic bushfires, it will also have an effect on European countries.

A man created a set of maps to show impact of bushfires on faraway continent. Oliver Oldfield-Hodge shared maps on his Facebook account saying rough maps will put things into perspective.
“About 5 million hectares have burned in Aussie bush fires so far..some rough maps to put that in perspective for our UK lot... fingers crossed for some rain and thoughts out to firefighters and those affected,” wrote Oldfield-Hodge. He also plugged in links for donation to Australian Red Cross and volunteer at New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS). maps showed that fire will affect parts of Ireland, Belgium, and United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Sydney went ahe with iconic fireworks display twithstanding threat of fire. city spokesperson said that most of budget has alrey been spent and cancellation would ruin plans of tens of thousands of visitors from across world. Sydney ministration, in a statement, said that city has alrey donated $620,000 to drought and bushfire relief. amount will be used to provide trucks, staff and or in-kind support to assist emergency services with recovery and clean-up efforts.

Death of a volunteer
On December 30, NSW Rural Fire Service confirmed death of a volunteer firefighter near Jingellic. Two or firefighters on same truck suffered burns and are currently treatment at a hospital. It is believed that truck rolled when it was hit by extreme winds associated with fire on Green Valley, Talmalmo Fire, approximately 70km east of Albury. Ar vehicle working in same area was also blown over and firefighter onboard has been transported to hospital.

Rural Fire Service has issued a warning to residents, ahe of New Year’s Eve, t to conduct ir own private fireworks displays as extreme fire danger has been predicted and total fire bans can be implemented. Such declaration prohibits lighting of all s of outdoor fires and bans certain activities that can cause fires to ignite.
