A Press officer confirmed that protest was t planned. Ayesha Tan Jones posted video on her Instagram account as well, showing her protest against straitjackets being used by brands at fashion shows. She wrote that straitjackets symbolize a cruel time in medicine when mental illness was t understood. She says that Gucci's use of imry is hurtful and insensitive. spokesperson for Gucci said uniforms and straitjackets were t to be sold and were just used as a statement for show.
Model holds protest on Instagram
Ayesha explained her move in an Instagram post saying she condemns Gucci's actions as she has also experienced challenges with mental health. 26-year-old model claimed she has family members and loved ones who have suffered depression, anxiety bipolar and schizophrenia and that it was insensitive for a leing brand like Gucci to trivialize this issue in name of fashion. Ayesha explained that re many people who suffer from mental health issues and are looked down upon at workplace and daily life.

'Mental health issues are t considered by a lot of people as real illness issues as y can't be physically seen. straitjackets were used at a time when problems related to mental health were t understood and rights of those suffering were taken away from m and y tortured in institution.
Misusing struggles as props for selling clos is offensive to millions of people across world who are struggling with ir own mental issues. Instagram post has since earner Ayesha a lot of positive comments and support. who appreciated her for taking such a bold and decisive step.

Gucci responds to incident on social media
Italian luxury brand of fashion and lear goods shared pictures of models in those outfits on social media after fashion show where one of models protested. Gucci while sharing pictures wrote that se uniforms including straitjackets were a part of ir GucciSS20 fashion show as an extreme version of a uniform that was dictated by society including ones who control it. Gucci said clos were a statement for ir show and that se outfits will t be for sale. creative director Alessandro Michele designed clos to show how through fashion, power is exercised over life to eliminate self-expression. outfits were to celebrate self in expression and identity.
