Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Nepal donates 1 lakh masks to China

Amidst the Coronmavirus outbreak that has taken over China, Nepal announced that it has donated 1,00,000 protective masks to the country.

Amidst Coronavirus outbreak that has taken over China and or countries, Nepal anunced that it has donated 1,00,000 protective masks to country. Coronavirus in China has claimed lives of 722 people and has also claimed lives outside nation, with multiple cases springing up around world.

Nepal Foreign Affairs Ministry anunced that due to acute short of protective medical gear in China, it donated around 1 lakh masks to 'stand with solidarity' with aggrieved nation.

masks were handed over by Nepali Minister of Foreign Affairs Preep Kumar Gyawali and Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, to Chinese Ambassor Hou Yanqi here, as per a statement by ministry.

" Government of Nepal has decided to donate 100,000 units of protective masks to Government of China as a gesture of friendship to Chinese people and government and solidarity with China's fight against vel Coronavirus," statement re.

WHO: 'Severe' short of masks 

Due to rapid spre of dely Coronavirus in China, re has been a severe disruption in global supply of masks, gowns, gloves and or protective gear. According to World Health Organization (WHO) chief, prices of se items have risen 100 times ir rmal price.

According to Director-General of WHO, Tedros ham Ghebreyesus, situation is being me worse by people buying masks and medical equipment for personal use as it results in a short of supply for medical professionals that are fighting on frontline of battle against virus.

"WHO is sending testing kits, masks, gloves, respirators & gowns to countries in every region. However, is facing severe disruption in market for personal protective equipment. Demand is up to 100x higher than rmal & prices are up to 20x higher" re a statement by WHO Chief.
