'No use of worrying..,' Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina reacts to US visa policy

After the US announced its visa policy for the Bangladeshi immigrant, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said that the country is “not worried" about such policies.

After United States announced a peculiar visa policy for Bangleshi immigrant, Banglesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that country is “not worried” about such policies and sanctions. On Sunday, country’s premier me it clear that it “won’t matter” at all if someone does not go to US, Daily Star reported. Ahe of Banglesh General elections, US Secretary of State announced visa policy in an effort to promote democratic and fair elections in country.  However, Hasina completely dismissed policy during an Awami League Party Programme in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area.

Our economy will be stronger and more developed and vibrant," Bangleshi Prime Minister stated firmly during dress. "We will not be dependent on ors. It's no use worrying about who will not issue us visas or who will impose sanctions on us," she ded. Hasina n went on to vow to rebuild country. After pointing out fact that Cana High Court h declared opposition party, Banglesh Nationalist Party, BNP a ‘terrorist party’, Hasina insisted that US should look into part that “actually rigged elections,” Bangleshi news outlet, Daily Star reported. " USA did not issue a visa to Tarique Zia (Chairman of BNP) for terrorism and corruption," she noted.

What is visa policy all about?

On May 24, US Secretary of State Anthony Blink announced a visa policy that aim to promote Democratic Elections in Banglesh. “Today, I announced a new visa policy to promote free and fair elections. Under this policy, we can impose visa restrictions on individuals and ir immediate family members if y are responsible for, or complicit in, undermining democratic election process in Banglesh,” US secretary of state wrote on Twitter. policy will be imposed on current and former Bangleshi officials, members of pro-government and opposition political parties, and members of law enforcement, judiciary, and security services.

If anyone is found guilty of tampering with elections n not only official but ir family will face visa restriction. “ holding of free and fair elections is responsibility of everyone—voters, political parties, government, security forces, civil society, and media.  I am announcing this policy to lend our support to all those seeking to vance democracy in Banglesh,” Blinken concluded in statement. US is concerned about 2024 Banglesh elections since 2014 and 2018 elections in country were marred by violence and speculations of vote rigging. Hasina’s ruling Awami League party won both elections with a landslide margin.
