New Delhi: In its initial response to the major Microsoft outage triggered by an update to CrowdStrike's 'Falcon Sensor,' the company's CEO announced that they have identified the issue and a fix has been deployed. For the unversed, the Microsoft outage has disrupted numerous stock exchanges, supermarkets, and flight operations worldwide. Users are witnessing the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error, leading to unexpected system shutdowns or restarts.
"CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed...", tweeted President & CEO CrowdStrike George Kurtz. He added,"We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels. Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.

What Did Microsoft Say?
In a statement, Microsoft said that the "underlying cause" of the widespread IT outage affecting its apps has been resolved, though some services are still experiencing "residual impact." The company, earlier, attributed the issue to "an update from a third-party software platform," which has now been confirmed to be CrowdStrike.
