A day after Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar's brother Mufti Abdur Rauf, Hammad Azhar and 42 others were detained by Pakistan authorities, former Pak president General Pervez Musharraf welcomed the move, saying that they did the right thing. Further, Pervez Musharraf hinted that Pakistan intelligence agency ISI was working with Jaish to carry out bomb blasts in India during his tenure as the President of the neighbouring country.
In a telephonic interview with Pakistan-based journalist Nadeem Malik, Pervez Musharraf also revealed that it was JeM that had carried out two assassination attempts on him when he was president of Pakistan. The Pak journalist shared a 2-minute clip of the interview of social media on March 5.
On being questioned by the journalist about the detainment of Masood Azhar's brother by Pak authorities, he said, "They did the right thing. I have been telling them that it (JeM) is a terrorist organisation. They only had carried out a suicide attack on me. This is a terrorist organisation and action should be taken against them. I am happy the government is taking a tough stand against them."
Speaking about the suicide bombing attempt at him in December 2003 at Rawalpindi's Jhanda Chichi, General Pervez Musharraf confirmed that it was JeM terrorists who had attempted to assassinate him, however, they failed in their attempt since attacker pressed the button a few seconds late.
“The attacker pressed the button a few seconds too late and I had crossed the bridge by that time. They (Pak authorities) took the right actions, it should have done before,” he said.
Later when questioned by the journalist as to why he himself did not take any action against the Jaish-e-Mohammad when he was in power before 2007, Pervez Musharraf hinted that Pak intelligence agencies were in hands with the Jaish in carrying out bombings in India.
“I don't have a clear answer to this. Those were different times. Our intelligence men were involved in a tit-for-tat between India and Pakistan. They were carrying out bomb blasts in Pakistan and we were carrying them there (in India). This was continuing during that time and between all this, no major action was taken against them (JeM). And I also did not insist,” Musharraf added.

Earlier speaking over the prevailing situation between India and Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf had said that if Pakistan will attack India with one atomic bomb then the neighbouring country could “finish us by attacking with 20 bombs”, as per a report by the Dawn.
