FATF report exposes Pakistan's claims on action against terrorists

In yet another setback for Pakistan, APG of the FATF in its report concluded that Islamabad has failed to sufficient action against terrorists in the country

In yet ar setback for Pakistan,  Asia Pacific Group (APG) of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Sunday released its report, concluding that Islamab has failed to sufficient action against terrorists in light of UN sanctions. In its latest 228-p report on Pakistan titled, "Mutual Evaluation Report 2019", APG stated that Pakistan has t taken equate measures to fully implement UNSCR 1267 obligations against 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and or individuals associated with LeT, JuD, FIF, and or terror groups. 

"Pakistan has t taken sufficient measures to fully implement UNSCR 1267 obligations against all listed individuals and entities - especially those associated with Lashkar-eTayyiba (LeT)/Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) as well as groups'," report re.

Pakistan to be "blacklisted" by FATF?

 report by APG of FATF has come a week ahe of annual plenary of FATF during when decision will be taken on Pakistan's 'grey list' status. report will be one of bases for evaluation of country by FATF. Furrmore, in report, FAFT has asked Islamab to take equate action against terror-funding of terrorist groups. With this, country is facing major threats of being blacklisted by FATF. 

Pakistan was placed under "grey list" by  international money laundering watchdog in June 2018 following which it was given a 15-month dateline to implement its 27-point action plan. Islamab's deline ended in September following which it submitted its report. w, FATF is expected to have a final review in its next meeting between 13 and 18 October in Paris.
