As per recent reports from Pakistan, six people have died and dozens have been hospitalised after being exposed to poisonous gas in sourn city of Karachi. As probe is underway, various Pakistani news outlets have claimed that gas was leaked while offloing material from a cargo ship. Some agencies claim that it was a vegetable container that emanated poisonous gas while ors state that chemicals were being offloed ship.
Sindh CM takes notice
Chief Minister of Sindh in Pakistan, Mur Ali Shah took notice of incident and summoned a report from authorities. As per News International, several victims who were hospitalised have complained of respiratory problems. materials were being unloed from cargo ship in Kemari port area on Sunday night.

Police probe continues
Reports from Pakistani daily suggest that police suspect leakage of gas to have "occurred during offloing chemicals from a cargo ship anchored at Keamari Jetty."

As per DIG Sharjeel Kharal, " initial investigation showed that as soon as people from Jackson market opened container fumes emanated from it and people h difficulty in breathing and lost consciousness”.

Karachi’s massive fire
In last month, on January 22 a massive fire burnt over 100 burlap-and-plastic shelters in Karachi, reportedly forcing hundreds of poor noms to spend night in open amid winter temperatures but re were no casualties. TV footage showed a massive fire sweeping through shelters as dwellers cried for help. It was unclear what caused fire in city's Teenhatti neighbourhood where hundreds of nom families live in makeshift homes.

As per police reports, firefighters quickly doused flames, but y could not save 100 or so makeshift homes. Hours after fire, inhabitants were seen retrieving utensils and or items from ashes. "We have lost each and everything," said one survivor, Lakshmi Bai, sitting outdoors with her children.
