The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of Pakistan had informed the court that Nawaz’s Sharif's condition was treatable. However, the defence side claimed that the former Pakistan PM was “serious”. Media reports suggest that the head of the medical board, Dr. Ayaz Mehmood had submitted a report to the court stating that Nawaz Sharif’s platelet count was constantly declining. Diagnosed with Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)
On Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif was diagnosed with acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). According to a medical board treating him, this disease prompts an insusceptible issue which leads to a sudden and sharp drop in blood platelets. Nawaz Sharif was rushed to the Services Hospital from the National Accountability Bureau's Lahore office late on Monday night after a huge drop in his platelet count. Sharif received supplies of mega units of platelets at the hospital the next day. His condition deteriorated again on Wednesday evening after the platelet count fell sharply to a life-threatening level of 7,000. Dr. Mahmood Ayaz of Services Institute of Medical Sciences said that his condition is improving as his platelets count increased to 20,000 from 7,000. According to initial test reports, the three-time prime minister has been diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenia.
