Pakistan’s Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on Wednesday, October 23, condemned the “brutal manhandling” of the peaceful protest of people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). It pinned the blame on its security forces and alleged that they treated the people like “animals”. The Central Coordination Committee (CCC) of the MQM accused the Pakistani military establishment of “shedding crocodile tears” for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while maltreating those staying in PoK. Furthermore, it appealed to the foreign diplomats and human rights organisations to take notice of this act of “barbarism”.

'Take notice of that barbarism'
MQM’s statement read, “The MQM Central coordination committee condemned the brutal manhandling of the peaceful and innocent people of PoK as the people of the occupied valley were on protest and several dozens of them have been severely injured and many lost their lives after they were treated like animals by the security forces and the law enforcers on the occasion of foreign diplomats visiting the LoC on request of Pakistan’s demonic military establishment”. The CCC further added, ”It appealed to the foreign diplomats who visited the Pakistan held side of Kashmir that they should take notice of that barbarism and the human rights organizations should step forward and take up the case for the sake of humanity”.

'Black Day' in PoK
The security forces in PoK raided the press club in capital city Muzaffarabad on Tuesday, October 22, when the Jammu Kashmir People’s National Alliance (JKPNA) was briefing the media. It had called for a protest on October 24, outside the Pakistan High Commission in London. Not only did several journalists suffer injuries, but this was followed by an even more brutal crackdown. During a peaceful pro-freedom rally, two civilians were killed while 80 others sustained injuries. The locals were reportedly observing a ‘Black Day’ to protest the 72nd anniversary of Pakistan’s invasion of Kashmir in 1947.
