Geelani for long has been furring Pakistan’s nda but off late octogenarian did t enjoy kind of ISI backing he did at some point in time.
A frustrated ISI does t see Geelani as someone who would be useful in furring ir nda especially when y failed miserably in disrupting law and order situation in valley after abrogation of Article 370 and 35A. infighting within Hurriyat Conference and rivalry with Mirwaiz only propelled Pakistan’s desire to replace Geelani with someone who would have a voice on ground. Many also see resignation as an attempt by Geelani to keep his relevance alive in valley and pave way for his son Nayeem Geelani as his successor.
