Pakistan: 65 dead, many injured as Tezgam express catches fire

At least 65 people were charred to death and many others suffered injuries when a gas canister exploded on Tezgam express train in Liaqatpur, Pakistan.

At least 65 people were charred to death and many suffered injuries when a gas canister, which was being used to cook food, exploded on an express train in Liaqatpur near Rahim Yar Khan in Pakistan.

Three coaches of Tezgam express caught fire when it was en route Lahore from Karachi. According to media reports, Tablighi jamaat members were cooking food on a gas cylinder when it exploded. The injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals and rescue operations are underway.

Grief and condolence 

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the fire incident, reported Pakistani media. He has reportedly directed the concerned authorities to provide prompt and best possible medical treatment to those injured in the incident. Condolences also poured in from Indian politicians. BJP MLA Majinder Sirsa took to Twitter to express condolences:

Train collision killed 16 in July

In July, 16 passengers lost their lives in a fatal crash in Sadiqabad - a city in Southern Punjab of Pakistan. The incident took place when Akbar Express was travelling from Quetta to Lahore and collided with a stationary freight train at the Walhar Railway Station in Sadiqabad Tehsil of Punjab province.
