Pakistan PM Imran Khan dials PM Modi to congratulate for histoic mandate in 2019 elections, expresses desire for better ties between India and Pakistan

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the BJP and its allies to a landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha, Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Sunday congratulated his Indian counterpart, over the phone, for "his party's electoral victory in the elections".

Taking to Twitter, official spokesperson of Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affair Dr Mohammad Faisal said that Imran Khan also expressed his "desire for both countries to work together for the betterment of their people" over the phone with PM Modi. 

In another tweet, he wrote that the Pakistan PM reiterated his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia, adding that he looks forward to working with PM Modi to advance the objectives".

Earlier on May 23 amid the counting of votes of 2019 polls, Pakistan PM Imran Khan had congratulated his Indian counterpart as the NDA won a historic mandate in the Lok Sabha Elections. 

Taking to Twitter, Imran Khan had congratulated PM Modi over BJP's and its allies victory and had said that he looks forward to working with him for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia. 

Responding to Imran Khan's tweet, PM Modi had conveyed his gratitude, stressing on his focus primarily to peace and development in the region.
