Pakistan PM Imran Khan's ex-wife slams his weak leadership amid tiff with army chief Bajwa

Reham Khan took to Twitter to take ar dig at her ex-husband and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, indirectly calling him a "soft man".

She said, "Empires crumble when re is weak leership. Soft men who can’t make hard decisions destroy sovereignty."

She seemed to refer to rift between Imran Khan and Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Earlier this month, Pakistani army anunced Lieutenant General Neem Ahmed Anjum as new Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Imran Khan reportedly told Army Chief that he was t happy with decision to replace former ISI Director-General Faiz Hameed.

Prime Minister has say in appointment of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) but he is kwn to be close with former ISI director General Faiz Hameed. It was well kwn through Pakistani media that re were differences in choice for incoming ISI director, with government preferring someone else over General Anjum.

Pakistani Army later confirmed that General Bajwa also visited ISI Hequarters to review security situation in country and to discuss situation in Afghanistan. An official statement said, " COAS was briefed on Internal Security and ongoing situation in Afghanistan."

"Khan knew his government would t survive without Lt-Gen Hameed": PML-N leer

As tensions grew between General Bajwa and Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leer Maryam Nawaz accused Khan of interfering with state institutions.

Maryam said that he favoured prolongment of Lt-Gen Hameed’s tenure because he knew that his government would t survive without his help. Talking to Express Tribune, he said, "Imran Khan knew if DG ISI was replaced, his government falls like a house of cards." 

He ded, "Imran Khan used to blame Nawaz Sharif for locking horns with state institutions; but when his turn came, attacking institution of armed forces is one thing, he in fact carries out a suicide attack on m (just to save one person)." 

Maryam Nawaz furr ded, "Imran Khan wants to a save person, who was stealing elections and ballot boxes for him; who was oppressing his opponents; blackmailing judges to get favourable decisions; abducting journalists, and pulling plug on (TV) channels."
