Swarms of locusts in Balochistan, Minister suggests biryani of insects
As Balochistan is witnessing swarms of locust, Sindh minister Ismail Rahoo took a jibe over the situation and suggested Karachiites to make biryani of insects

Taking a jibe over situation of swarms of locusts that Pakistan's Balochistan is witnessing, Sindh minister of agriculture Ismail Rahu has asked people to take vant of situation calmly by preparing delicious delicacies such as biryani and karahi with insects. As per video shared on social media, insects were seen filling skies in different parts of city. "y have come all way here so residents should eat m," he said in while taking a sneer at distressed situation.
Meanwhile, in Thar's Chacharo area, restaurants have been selling biryani and curry dishes me from locusts. One of restaurant owners also shared secret of how to cook se locusts. A locust has to be cleaned first, with its legs and hind portion being detached from body, he explained. Locusts have been long considered a delicacy in region, with locals calling m a great source of vitamins.

Consumption of insects across world
According to a report published by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of United Nations in 2013, about 2 billion people consume insects as a part of ir tritional diet across world. This practice is called entomophagy. Entomophagy is practised in different countries such as China, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Asia, and parts of Central and South America.
