Thousands of supporters of the anti-government Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) gathered in Karachi on Sunday as the opposition ramped up efforts to dislodge Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The PDM is an alliance of 11 political parties led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, of the right-wing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, and includes two major parties, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim–Nawaz (PML–N).

At the rally, supporters chanted slogans calling for the removal of Prime Minister Khan as many waved party flags and others danced to their parties' anthems.

PML–N vice president Maryam Nawaz insisted the opposition movement would continue its efforts until Khan was ousted.

She also slammed the government for allegedly using state machinery to impede the opposition movement, through media censorship and personal attacks.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto reiterated that the opposition was now united and had resolved to remove the prime minister.
