Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday held press briefing alleging atrocities against Kashmiris, issuing several statements on Kashmir including a bizarre move to declare himself as Kashmir's ambassador and to ask Pakistanis to literally stand up to show solidarity with the Kashmiris. As Imran Khan on Friday addressed the supporters at a protest site who were standing literally for Pakistan, he admitted that the world is not with Pakistan. Even after repeated attempts to attract the global community and desperate calls to head of states of various nations, to the utter failure of Imran Khan he admitted that world is not with Pakistan. He said: "When atrocities are done on Muslims then international community like the UN keeps quiet. The world is not with Kashmir, and I being the ambassador of Kashmir will raise its issue everywhere I go."

In his address on Monday, Khan asked the people of Pakistan to stand up for Kashmir literally, every Friday between 12 to 12:30. He said, "We should give Kashmiri people a message that we are with them. We will do an event every week, in schools, universities and officies. This Friday, from 12 to 12:30, you must stop work and stand with the public to tell the people that we are with Kashmiri people. Those who are at home, should also get on the streets, so that people should know we are standing with them."

"If the (Kashmir) conflict moves towards war then remember both nations have nuclear weapons and no one is a winner in a nuclear war. It will have global ramifications," he said. "The superpowers of the world have a huge responsibility...whether they support us or not, Pakistan will do everything possible," Imran Khan added. The Pakistan PM said that the time had come for the country to be decisive on the Kashmir issue.

Muslim nations not with Imran Khan, he admits

In the same address, a feeble Imran Khan during the address said, "I read in the newspapers that people are disappointed that Muslim countries are not siding with Kashmir. I want to tell you not to be disappointed; if some countries are not raising this issue because of their economic interests, they will eventually take this issue up. They will have to, with time." This statement comes a day after PM Modi was conferred with two awards by UAE and Bahrain on his 3-nation tour.

Abrogation of Article 370

On August 5, India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Parliament also bifurcated the state into two Union Territories -- Jammu Kashmir, and Ladakh. Reacting to India's decision, Pakistan expelled the Indian High Commissioner soon after deciding to downgrade the diplomatic ties with New Delhi. India has categorically told the international community that its move to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution is its internal matter and has also advised Pakistan to accept the reality. As a preventive measure, Centre also placed leaders in Kashmir - Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti into detention, and ordered communication backout and curfew was imposed. However after a week, several communication facilities were resumed. 23 days after the abrogation, Centre claims that situtaion is normal, however some restrictions in the valley are still in place.
