WFP says Nobel Prize a 'powerful reminder' that peace and ending hunger 'go hand-in-hand'

World Food Programme (WFP) expressed ir deepest gratitude to bel Committee after y were awarded bel Peace Prize 2020 for ir humanitarian efforts to combat hunger around world. After anuncement of bel Peace Prize winner, WFP chief David Beasley shared a video of his reaction from his official Twitter handle. In a 29-second long video clip, top WFP official can be seen expressing his surprise over pleasant news. He said that award has left him speechless for first time in his life.
“I mean this is first time in my life I'm speechless...this is unbelievable..talk about most exciting point of time in your life is a bel Peace Prize...and it is because WFP family,” said Beasley. “y are out re in most difficult, complex places in world wher it is war, conflict, climate extremes it doesn't matter y are out re...y deserve this award."
bel Committee listed ncy’s work in past few years, including assistance to close to 100 million people in 88 countries, in 2019, who are victims of acute food insecurity and hunger.
