'Peace Mission 2021': SCO counter-terrorism military exercise concludes in Russia
The ‘Peace Mission 2021’ counter-terrorism military drill of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states culminated on Friday, 24 September.

‘Peace Mission 2021’ counter-terrorism military drill of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states culminated on Friday, 24 September. Indian Army informed that closing ceremony of “multi-nation joint military exercise” was marked by march past and equipment display. participants of military drill were from eight SCO members states - China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
According to Xinhua News Agency, military troops of SCO members states conducted live-fire drills when military equipment such as infantry fighting vehicles and assault vehicles me fierce attacks against targets. While speaking at a closing ceremony at Donguz training range in Russia’s Orenburg Region, Commander of Russian Central Military District Alexander Lapin reportedly said that military exercise was “successful” and all tasks were finished. Separately, on last day of exercise, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat witnessed final validation exercise of Multi-nation Exercise and interacted with contingent commanders of participating nations.

As per news agency, senior military officials also exchanged ir views at a meeting of chiefs of general staff of SCO member states. y discussed current international and regional situations, security challenges and deepening military-security cooperation. officials also expressed concern over new risks arising from hasty withdrawal of foreign troops from war-torn Afghanistan.
6th edition of Shanghai Cooperation Organization
Meanwhile, SCO Peace Mission Exercise marked first foreign visit of General Bipin Rawat after taking over as CDS. During his visit, he witnessed activities of respective armed forces taking part in SCO peace mission drills in Russia. military drills aimed to foster close relations between SCO member states and to enhance abilities of military leers to command multi-national military contingents.

Indian Army h taken part in opening ceremony of 6th Edition of SCO. Indian Army said that opening ceremony was marked with an “impressive pare” by all participating contingents & an dress by Commander Central Military District, Russian Armed Forces. Ministry of Defence informed that Indian military contingent, comprising of an all arms combined force of 200 personnel from Indian Army and Indian Air Force participated in exercises.
