Peru: At least 32 people dead and several injured in a bus accident near Rimac River
At least 32 people lost their lives and several were injured after a bus plummeted into a ravine in central Peru. The police have launched an investigation.

As driver lost control over bus, vehicle plunged about 100 meters to banks of Rimac River, according to news ncy ANI. accident occurred at around 4 am local time on Tuesday, August 31, on central highway when bus was heing to Lima.

Police Commander Cesar Cervantes told TV Peru that 32 people h lost ir lives in accident. police have started investigation to find cause of accident, as per ncy's report. police department and Fire Department have been searching through debris, Peru's new channel cited senior official. Reportedly, accident happened due to overspeeding of vehicle. Hernando Cevallos, Minister of Health, has expressed condolences to victims and ir families and assured timely treatment for injured.

It is reported that bus carrying 63 passengers from Huanuco was heing to capital Lima. As bus reached Matucana, 72 kilometres east of Lima, bus with a rock and fell towards banks of Rimac River, reported news channel. As per channel's report, driver of bus was killed in accident, but assistant driver has been arrested by police to find cause of accident.
On Sunday, August 29, at least 20 people died and over 50 remained missing after two boats collided in Peru’s Amazon Basin. According to Peruvian officials, accident took place at 5.30 am (local time) on Huallaga River in Muyuna. According to reports, in aftermath of accident, authorities h initiated a rescue operation involving firefighters, policemen and sailors. One of surviving passengers was quoted by ncy, saying he heard a boat with its light off approaching ir boat.
