The Venezuela crisis

The South American country has been caught in a downward spiral for quite some time now. The growing political discontent has further fuelled power cuts and shortages of food and medicine. Millions of Venezuelans have left their hometown and settled in neighboring countries. Many blame Nicolas Maduro and the socialist government for the country's decline. President Maduro was re-elected in a highly controversial election. The National Assembly argued that the elections were not fair and the presidency is vacant since. The biggest challenge is being faced by its citizens as their day-to-day lives are being affected. The Venezuelans are struggling to afford basic food and toiletry items due to hyperinflation. This has also led to mass migration, the majority of the population have crossed into Colombia, from where some have moved to Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. Many have also gone south to Brazil as well.
