'PM Modi- Angela Merkel share good relation', says German Envoy

Walter J Lindner, a German envoy said that India and Germany share a very long-standing relationship, and potential to engage in discussions on various topics

Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor is coming on her India tour along with a delegation from 12 ministries. She will arrive here on Thursday, October 31, to engage in a bilateral discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various issues, informed Walter J Lindner, a German envoy. Linder further added that Merkel might also discuss the issue of Kashmir during her visit. Lindner said that India and Germany share a very long-standing relationship.

India and Germany to sign 20 agreements 

Angela Merkel will be visiting India for a three-day tour, during which she will participate in the 5th Biennial Indo-German Inter-governmental Consultations (IGC). Lindner said that the delegates from all the ministries will be part of the visit. The talks can range from artificial intelligence to agriculture along with economic issues. According to sources, India and Germany will probably sign 20 agreements pertaining to a wide spectrum of issues that will be discussed during Merkel’s visit.

‘India and Germany have a very long-standing relationship’

Lindner further reflected that India and Germany have a very long-standing relationship, which will further benefit the two nations in strengthening cooperation in various areas. Lindner was questioned whether there will be bilateral discussions on the issue of Kashmir between the German Counsellor and PM Modi, Lindner said the two leaders have a “very good relationship and they can talk about any issue“. And establishing that he doesn't want to anticipate about the talks that are yet to take place.

Merkel and Modi have will exchange their views on various matters

In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, the two sides will discuss the deepening of cooperation in traditional sectors such as transport, skill development, and energy, and explore possibilities for cooperation in newer areas like green urban mobility and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also read that Merkel and Modi have will exchange their views on various regional and global matters. Both leaders will have a separate engagement with CEOs and business leaders of both countries, the statement said. As per the visit plan, Angela Merkel is expected to meet  President Ram Nath Kovind. Merkel will also meet the famous female personalities who have brought a change in society and acknowledge their contribution.
