The electronic sector in India is worth more than $150 billion, and we aim to increase it to $500 billion by 2030 to create six million job opportunities in this sector. The youth in India is showing great interest in studying STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics),” said PM Modi.

There is a need for balance between technology and democracy, as the convergence of democratic values and technology ensures human welfare. India does not seek its dominance but wants to play a role in the prosperity of the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday, asserting that India’s role will be crucial in accelerating the global peace process. Addressing thousands of Indian-Americans in New York, Modi said India today has a foreign policy of maintaining equal closeness with all and not equal distance.

"India's 5G market is bigger than America. It has happened within two years. Now, India is working on made-in-India 6G," PM Modi said.

It is our tradition of love for nature that guided us and we are focusing on solar and wind energy areas. India is the first G20 country to achieve its Paris climate goals. We want to make every house in India a solar power household," PM Modi said. 

"For India, power and potency means - knowledge is for sharing, wealth is for caring, power is for protecting," PM Modi said. 

"Only a few days ago, the Paris Olympics concluded. Very soon, you will witness the Olympics in India too. We are putting all possible efforts to host the 2036 Olympics," PM Modi said. 

"Last year, I declared that our govt would open a new consulate in Seattle, it has been started now. We have also sought suggestions for two new consulates. I am happy to tell you that after your suggestion, India has decided to open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles," PM Modi said. 

"India's priority is not to increase its pressure in the world but to increase its impact. 'Hum aaag ki tarah jalaane waale nahin, Suraj ki kiran ki tarah roshani dene waale hain'. We don't want our supremacy in the world, but to increase cooperation in the prosperity of the world," PM Modi said.

In the talks, Biden conveyed to the Indian prime minister that the US supports initiatives to reform global institutions to reflect India's important voice, including permanent membership for New Delhi in a reformed UN Security Council, according to a joint fact-sheet on the meeting.

Though the Modi-Biden talks primarily focused on bilateral ties, the two leaders also touched upon key global challenges including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in the Indo-Pacific that has witnessed increasing Chinese muscle-flexing.

The fact-sheet said President Biden expressed his "immense appreciation" for India's leading role on the world stage, particularly Modi's leadership in the G-20 and in the Global South and his commitment to strengthen the Quad to ensure a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

 To strengthen the fight against cervical cancer, India has pledged a grant of USD 7.5 million to the testing, screening, and diagnosis of the disease in the Indo-Pacific region. Addressing the Cancer Moonshot event hosted by US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Delaware on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the initiative would go a long way in providing affordable, accessible and quality health care to people in Indo-Pacific countries.

QUAD Leaders' Joint Statement: “Today we are announcing a new regional Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI), to enable our partners in the region to maximize tools provided through IPMDA and other Quad partner initiatives, to monitor and secure their waters, enforce their laws, and deter unlawful behavior. We look forward to India hosting the inaugural MAITRI workshop in 2025. Furthermore, we welcome the launch of a Quad maritime legal dialogue to support efforts to uphold the rules-based maritime order in the Indo-Pacific. QUAD Leaders' Joint Statement | “We are also announcing today that the U.S. Coast Guard, Japan Coast Guard, Australian Border Force, and Indian Coast Guard, plan to launch a first-ever Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission in 2025, to improve interoperability and advance maritime safety, and continuing with further missions in future years across the Indo-Pacific. We also announce today the launch of a Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network pilot project, to pursue shared airlift capacity among our nations and leverage our collective logistics strengths, in order to support civilian response to natural disasters more rapidly and efficiently across the Indo-Pacific region.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the QUAD Summit.

US President Joe Biden commended PM Modi for his visits to Ukraine and Poland, as India hopes to play the role of a peacemaker.

At the Cancer Moonshot event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "India will also cooperate in radiotherapy treatment and capacity building. I am happy that India will contribute 40 million vaccine doses for Indo-Pacific countries under GAVI and QUAD initiatives. These 40 million vaccine doses will become a ray of hope in the lives of crores of people. As you can see when the QUAD acts, it is not just for nations. This is the true essence of our human-centric approach."

As a direct result, more than 400 million vaccine doses made their way into communities in the Indo-Pacific. That changed lives and it saved lives. This programme builds on one of President Biden's signature policy initiatives, not just in his term as president, but throughout his time in public life...Australia is on track to be the first country in the world to eliminate cervical cancer. Today, I can announce that Australia is expanding our funding commitment to the elimination partnership in the Indo-Pacific for Cervical Cancer...We're proud to stand with the United States, with India and with Japan in this shared effort to change lives for the better," Australian PM Anthony Albanese said.

After completing his engagements in Delaware, the Prime Minister will head to New York. He will address the Indian diaspora at an event in Long Island, New York, at around 10:00 PM (IST). 10 years ago, during his first trip to US as PM of India, he addressed the Indian diaspora at Madison Square Garden. Since then, public diplomacy has been a hallmark of the Prime Minister. 

During the QUAD summit, US President Joe Biden announced cooperation amongst QUAD Coast Guards. “We're democracies who know how to get things done,” he said. 

Roadmap for U.S.-India Initiative to Build Safe and Secure Global Clean Energy Supply Chains has been launched, according to the White House. 

"The United States and India share an enduring commitment to deepen our collaboration on issues of shared national and economic security. As an important aspect of our economic growth agendas, we are committed to working together to capture the benefits of the clean energy transition, including the creation of high-quality jobs for our populations, acceleration of clean energy deployment globally, and achievement of global climate goals.

In support of these objectives, the United States and India intend to elevate and expand bilateral technical, financial, and policy support to expand complementary U.S. and Indian manufacturing capacity for clean energy technologies and components and lay the groundwork for enhanced cooperation in third countries, with a focus on partnerships in Africa. This effort will build on existing clean energy cooperation between the United States and India, including clean energy initiatives launched during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States in 2023," reads the statement. 

The White House has released a statement on the bilateral meeting between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden. 

“US President Joe Biden commended Prime Minister Modi for his historic visits to Poland and Ukraine, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in decades, and for his message of peace and ongoing humanitarian support for Ukraine, including its energy sector, and on the importance of international law, including the UN charter.  The Leaders reaffirmed their support for the freedom of navigation and the protection of commerce, including critical maritime routes in the Middle East where India will assume co-lead in 2025 of the Combined Task Force 150 to work with Combined Maritime Forces to secure sea lanes in the Arabian Sea,” reads the statement. 

The statement also touched upon Guardian drones. 

“President Biden welcomed the progress towards India concluding procurement of 31 General Atomics MQ-9B (16 Sky Guardian and 15 Sea Guardian) remotely piloted aircraft and their associated equipment, which will enhance the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of India’s armed forces across all domains,” the statement reads.

US President Joe Biden was asked will QUAD survive beyond the elections November. Biden responded by saying “way beyond November”. 

Australian PM Antony Albanese, began his statement at the QUAD summit, by saying “It is absolutely delightful to be here amongst friends”. 

He added that “Prime Minister Modi will be hosting us next year and I look forward to that as well. Unlike some international forums, the Quad doesn't have a long history. That means it's not defined by tradition, but it also means it's not confined by it. It means that as it develops, it can evolve. And that is, I believe, what is happening. We represent in this region, the fastest-growing region of the world in human history. With that comes enormous opportunity, but also comes some challenges. Through the Quad our four countries collaborate and we coordinate on the issues facing our communities but the region as a whole”. 

In his address, during the QUAD summit, PM Modi said that “We are meeting at a time when the world is surrounded by conflict. We are not against anybody”. He went on to add that “We have to move forward and take initiatives in capacity building”. 

The PM declared that “QUAD is here to stay, to assist, to partner and to compliment”. He added that India will be happy to host the next QUAD summit.

The QUAD summit has began and the PM is now addressing the leaders of US, Australia and Japan. 

The Ministry of External Affairs has released a statement on the bilateral meeting between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden. 

PM Modi and Joe Biden “held bilateral talks in Wilmington, Delaware today.  In a special gesture, the meeting was hosted by President Biden at his residence," reads the statement. 

The bilateral meeting between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden has ended. The duo will meet each other again, later in the day, for the QUAD summit. 

US President Joe Biden has said that “the United States' partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than any time in history.” He went on to add that “I'm struck by our ability to find new areas of cooperation.”

What is on the agenda for PM's bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden?

One of the key issues on the agenda will be the Russia-Ukraine war and Israel-Hamas war. Prime Minister and the American President will also discuss maritime security.

The QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) is a strategic forum involving four countries: the United States, India, Japan, and Australia. Its primary aim is to promote a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region, counterbalance China's growing influence, and address shared regional and global challenges. Here's a breakdown of the QUAD:

2. Origins:

The QUAD originated in 2007, proposed by then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The idea was to create a group of democratic nations with shared interests in maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific. It initially gained traction but was put on hold after Australia's withdrawal, only to be revived in 2017 amid rising concerns about China's assertiveness in the region.

3. Objectives:

• Security and Defense Cooperation: While not a formal military alliance, the QUAD focuses on defense coordination, with joint military exercises like the Malabar exercises being a key feature.
• Economic and Technological Collaboration: Beyond security, the QUAD aims to cooperate on issues like infrastructure development, supply chains, and emerging technologies like 5G and cybersecurity.
• Promoting Rule-Based Order: The group supports maintaining international law, including freedom of navigation in the South China Sea and other contested waters.
• Addressing Global Issues: The QUAD also addresses broader challenges such as climate change, disaster relief, and COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

4. China's Role:

Though not an explicit anti-China alliance, the QUAD is often seen as a counterbalance to China's growing influence and military expansion, especially in the Indo-Pacific. China has criticized the QUAD as an attempt to contain it.

A member of the Indian Diaspora gathered outside the hotel in Delaware said after meeting PM Narendra Modi, "I don't think there is any other politician like him who has given his life and has made sure that India is respected and loved. He has brought it to the forefront of the world. I am blessed to welcome him to Delaware."

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived in Philadelphia as he begins his three-day visit to the United States. During his visit, PM Modi will be attending the QUAD Leaders' Summit in Delaware and the Summit of the Future (SOTF) at the United Nations in New York. Along with this, PM Modi will hold some key bilateral meetings during his visit.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Philadelphia, US President Joe Biden tweeted, “Today, I'll welcome Prime Ministers Albanese, Modi, and Kishida to my home: Delaware. These leaders aren't just essential to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific – they're friends of mine and friends of our nation. I look forward to all we'll accomplish in the Summit ahead.”

PM Narendra Modi arrived in Philadelphia in the US, to participate in President Biden-hosted Quad Leaders' summit and to address an event at the United Nations General Assembly.

On being asked about US President Biden's meeting with PM Modi and what he could say about what he wants India to do vis a vis China and Russia and the ongoing war in Ukraine, US NSA Jake Sullivan said, "I won't go too deep into the details of what he will say on those issues which are obviously sensitive and will obviously be critical priorities in the bilateral meeting. I will just say that the United States has been clear about our view that Russia's brutal war of aggression against Ukraine flouted every norm and principle of international law, that countries like India, India should step up and support the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that every country everywhere should refrain from supplying inputs to Russia's war machine for it to be able to continue to prosecute this brutal war. So they will talk about that. The President will also hear from Prime Minister Modi about his trip to Ukraine, which was an important and indeed historic trip, and it will be the opportunity for the two of them to talk about their respective views on the way forward. And then with respect to China, you know, they will talk about how they see China's actions in the region where China is headed. And that's not just true in the security domain, but in the economic and technology domain as well. And work to try to coordinate approaches to the extent that makes sense for both."

In United States' Philadelphia, Dr Avinash Gupta, President of the Federation of Indian Association said, "We are excited to welcome PM Modi ji. The US-India ties will strengthen with this visit. We are excited to listen to PM Modi."

Amidst security concerns, after two attacks on former US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security during his three-day packed US trip has reportedly been ‘enhanced’. As per the reports, the US Secret Service has ‘enhanced’ the security in and around the venues where PM Modi will be visiting.

India's envoy to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be bringing the message of India's example of its domestic development to the landmark Summit of the Future at the United Nations next week. "I think his message will be India's example of our own domestic development story," Harish, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, told news agency PTI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's discussions in the US are expected to focus on Indo-Pacific stability, Ukraine, Gaza, and concerns of the Global South. This high-level diplomatic tour comes at a time when India has intensified efforts to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table and end the conflict. PM Modi has a packed schedule, with the Quad Summit and various bilateral and multilateral meetings lined up on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Meetings with business and industry leaders are also anticipated. 

PM Modi is also scheduled to meet the Indian community on September 22 and will address the Summit of the Future on September 23. He may also meet former US President Donald Trump during his visit.

During his three-day visit to the US, the Indian PM will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Biden, Kishida and Albanese, where they will focus on defence, technology collaboration, and strategies to address ongoing global conflicts, including the situations in Ukraine and Gaza. The Indian Prime Minister is also likely to reiterate India’s long-standing support for a two-state solution regarding the ongoing Gaza conflict, emphasising the need for a ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and a peaceful resolution for both Israel and Palestine. 

The Quad is also a special time as it would be President Biden's and PM Kishida's farewell summit. 

This marks his first trip to Washington during his third term, just before the upcoming US elections. During his visit, the Prime Minister will hold high-level meetings with global leaders, attend the annual Quad summit, and participate in discussions at the United Nations.

The QUAD summit has plans to expand the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness initiative from South East Asia to the Indian Ocean Region, the White House said Friday.

The QUAD leadership summit begins Saturday in Wilmington, Delaware, with participation of the four member states -- India, US, Japan, and Australia.

The United States on Wednesday said China will certainly be "high on the agenda" at the upcoming QUAD Summit set to be hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington on Sept 21.

Speaking at a press briefing, John Kirby, US National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications asserted that it would be 'irresponsible' of the Quad leaders to not hold talks about the challenges that exist in the region caused by China.

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that he will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the latter's visit to the U.S. This announcement was made during a campaign event in Flint, Michigan, where Trump also criticised India's trade practices with the US, referring to India as a "very big abuser."

Ahead of PM Modi's visit to the US, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, is ready for a Sunday blockbuster for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big event, 'Modi&US,' with almost 14,000 people expected.

Speaking to ANI, Vinay Kumar, an Indian student from Hyderabad studying at Wilmington University, on PM's visit said, "I heard the news that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming here to our city and it gives an immense pride to all our Indians who are staying in the US. I have been in the US for the past year, and I have seen the growth of Mr. Modi as he became one of the global leaders. So, it really means a lot for all our Indians. And I hope our Indian community grows and all the global leaders support Modi as well."
 

When asked about PM Narendra Modi's meeting with President Joe Biden during his US visit, Indian-American US Congressman Shri Thanedar said, "China is becoming very aggressive and India and the US need to form a very strong bond, whether it is in technology, defence, science, commerce. We need to have strong ties with India. India and US need to work together because China is becoming aggressive and the only way for us to slow down China is to have a strong India-US relationship. PM Modi has a very good chemistry with President Joe Biden. PM Modi also had a great relationship with President Trump. So, he is a very charismatic leader and America values PM Modi for the leadership that he has provided to India."

PM Modi is set to present India’s model of domestic development at the upcoming Summit of the Future at the United Nations next week, the country's envoy said on Friday.
