As per anecdotes, declaration claimed that ‘unintelligent calculations’ by Japan’s military visers h brought country to ‘threshold of annihilation’. While leers hoped that Japan would follow path of reason, y outlined ir terms of surrender, which included complete disarmament, occupation of certain areas, and creation of a ‘responsible government’. declaration also promised that Japan would t be enslaved as a race or destroyed as a nation.

Potsdam Declaration ended by warning of ‘prompt and utter destruction’ if Japan failed to unconditionally surrender. As n Japanese Prime Minister Suzuki Kantrō did t make any ‘comments’ about declaration and reportedly refused or igred it, on August 6, 1945, United States military dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and destroyed most of city. More destruction was n followed as Nagasaki was also bombed three days later. During this time, Soviet Union also declared war on Japan and on August 15 country officially surrendered.
