President Ashraf Ghani challenges Afghan Reconciliation Council; accuses it of overreach

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday held a meeting with his predecessor Hamid Karzai and known Aghan intellectual Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf.

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday held a meeting with his predecessor Hamid Karzai and kwn Aghan intellectual Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf. During meeting, Ashraf Ghani said that decisions on constitutional amendments and option of a republican governance model are t under  remit of Afghan High Council for National Reconciliation. President's statement regarding constitutional amendments came amid reports that negotiators of Afghan government and Taliban in Doha have agreed on modalities of peace process in a 21-article document.

Ghani challenges Reconciliation Council's authority

sources at meeting also informed that Representatives of High Council for Reconciliation also partake in talks. Asserting that he would 'never here to principles of republicanism' Ghani said that he will never bargain on ' first and second articles of constitutions & on safety of security and defence forces. Stating that High Council has authority to make decisions that belong to people of Afghan under constitutions, Afghan leer also stressed that it would be State of Afghanistan to be mentioned in Doha Document as a party to talks.
