Presidential Polls: US Intel Warns of 'Most Active' Disinformation Efforts by Russia

The IC added that Iran "also remains a significant foreign influence threat."

Washington: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday released a statement warning that foreign versaries of United States, especially Russia are ramping up ir efforts to undermine confidence in presidential election and “stoke divisions among Americans.”

United States Intelligence Community (IC) said y expect foreign influence operations will "intensify through Election Day and in coming weeks" ding that “foreign influence narratives will focus on swing states.”

Office of Director of National Intelligence, in a joint statement with FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said "Russia is most active threat".

Actors linked to Russia, in particular, are manufacturing videos and fake articles to erode trust in election, to "instill fear in voters" and "suggest Americans are using violence against each or due to political preferences," agencies said.

"se efforts risk inciting violence, including against election officials," y said. "We anticipate Russian actors will release ditional manufactured content with se mes through Election Day and in days and weeks after polls close."

agencies said that Iran remains determined to seek revenge against select former US officials "whom it views as culpable for death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) Commander Soleimani in January 2020." 

"It has repeatedly highlighted former President Donald Trump among its priority targets for retribution," agencies said.

Meanwhile, In-person voting begins at midnight (US local time) in New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch near border of Cana in north east of US and continues until voting ends at 7 pm. 

On November 5, six registered voters in Dixville Notch were among first in US to cast ir ballots in person. Polls opened in small town to sound of an accordion playing national anm. 

Polling closed just after midnight ET in a trition that dates back to 1960, CNN reported.

results came in with three votes going to Republican candidate Trump and three went to Democratic candidate Harris.
