Prison guards taken hostage in Guatemala released

Ten guards taken host by gang members in a Guatemala prison were released early Tuesday after hours of captivity and negotiations with police.

Imprisoned members of Barrio 18 gang h seized guards Monday in retaliation for transfer of some of ir leers to ar prison.

Guatemala's Interior Minister Gendri Reyes said three guards were released first and n remaining seven followed.

Reyes said authorities h just me clear to inmates that one way or ar, y were coming in.

On Monday night, President Alejando Giammattei said he h ordered transfer of gang leers to ar prison because y h ordered kidnappings, murders, extortion and or crimes.
