An Indian-American US Air Force colonel, Raja Chari is now among the 18 astronauts who have been selected by NASA for its manned mission to the Moon.

An Indian-American US Air Force colonel, Raja Jon Vurputoor Chari is w among 18 astronauts who have been selected by NASA for its manned mission to Moon. While taking to Twitter, US ncy informed that Chari will form Artemis Team and help pave way for next lunar missions, including sending first woman and next man to walk on lunar surface in 2024. 43-year-old was selected by NASA to join 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class and he is also a gruate of US Air Force Acemy, Massachusetts Institute of Techlogy (MIT) and US Naval Test Pilot School.

NASA’s lunar exploration programme will establish a sustainable human lunar presence by end of dece. US ncy named 18 astronauts who will train for its Artemis moon-landing programme. Out of 18 selected astronauts, half of m are women. Sharing news on social media, Chari said that he is “proud” to be a part of huge NASA team. He also ded that world needs more “explorers and dreamers” to land on Moon.
While introducing members of Artemis Team at NASA’s Kennedy Centre in Florida, US Vice President called astronauts “heroes” and ded that y will carry country back to Moon and beyond. During eighth National Council meeting, Pence said that it is really amazing to think that next man and first woman on Moon are among names that were just anunced. He ded that “Artemis Generation” are heroes of American exploration in future.

According to NASA, astronauts on Artemis Team comes from a diverse range of backgrounds, expertise and experience. Most of astronauts in group are also in ir 30s or 40s. US ncy will anunce flight assignments for astronauts later, pulling from Artemis Team. or members on list include Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, two astronauts who performed world’s first all-female walk last year.
