Beijing: China on Monday said it is prepared to implement 'common understandings' me between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at recent BRICS summit, which have paved way for a thaw in relations that h been frozen for over four years due to military standoff in Eastern Lakh.

“Recently, President Xi Jinping met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on margins of BRICS summit held in Kazan,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing  while responding to a question on likelihood of a meeting two leers on sidelines of G20 summit in Brazil.

'Rey To Work With India'

“China stands rey to work with India to deliver on important common understandings between leers of two countries, step up communication and cooperation and enhance strategic mutual trust,” he said, ding that he has no information on specifics of meeting of leers and officials.

India-China Complete Disengagement In Eastern Lakh

At ir Kazan meeting, two leers endorsed India-China agreement on patrolling and disengagement along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Lakh and issued directions to revive various bilateral dialogue mechanisms, signalling attempts to normalize ties that were hit by a dely military clash in 2020.

In nearly 50-minute meeting held on sidelines of BRICS Summit at Kazan, Modi underscored importance of properly handling differences and disputes and not allowing m to disturb peace and tranquility in border areas and that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity should remain basis of relations.
