Researchers reveal dogs go through ‘teenage’ phase when they hit ‘puberty’

A recent study revealed that 5-8 months old dogs have similar behaviour as human beings as they believe to have hit their 'puberty' phase.

A recent study revealed that 5-8 months old dogs have similar behaviour as human beings as y believe to have hit ir puberty. According to an International media report, a team of researchers based in ttingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh revealed that dogs who hit ir puberty take longer to respond to commands and are tougher to train. research was concluded after reportedly monitoring 69 five-months-old dogs. 

As per research dogs, however, acted fussy only in front of ir owners as to when it came to strangers y behaved much better. While speaking to an international media outlet, zoologist Dr Naomi Harvey, who worked on research, said that animals behave that way as it is ir ‘dog version of taking out in your mum’. She reportedly ded that what team found is evidence that dogs do show a period of ‘reduced obedience’ towards ir owners. She said that is specific to ir owners and t or people.

Furrmore, Harvey said that behaviour is associated with all of issues going on inside dog during puberty. researchers believe that hormonal functions and remodelling of brain to become an ult brain cause a lot of issues in dogs. However, Harvey also informed that ‘teen’ years don’t last forever. research reportedly found that dogs become more obedient once y get past ‘puberty’ phase.

Dogs mostly ‘rehomed’ during ‘puberty’ phase

Dr Lucy Asher, who is animal behaviour scientist and who led study, reportedly said that this is a very important time in a dog’s life. Asher explained that ‘puberty’ phase is often when dogs are ‘rehomed’ because y are longer ‘cute little puppy’. phase is when owners suddenly find it more challenging to control and train ir dogs. She said that dog owners need to realise that just like humans, dogs also go through ir ‘puberty phase’ and it will pass.

Moreover, Asher also suggested that people should remain consistent and use rewards rar than punishing ir dog she reportedly ded that it is important to remember it is t dog deliberately behaving bly as it just ir biology. She also asked owners to be more kind to ir pets during ir ‘puberty’ phase and understand it is just a passing phase.
