Robert Mugabe, the former President of Zimbabwe will reportedly be buried on September 15, 2019. He passed away on September 6, in Singapore at the age of 95. Since April 2019, he was at a hospital in Singapore receiving treatment. The presidential spokesman George Charamba while addressing local media said that Robert Mugabe's body will arrive in Zimbabwe on the September 11. The Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician was the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987. After that, he served as the President of the nation from the year 1987 to 2017.

Mugabe to be buried at the National Heros Acre

The family members of Robert Mugabe will reportedly receive the body of the deceased at the airport in the national capital. The airport of Harare was named after the former President, 'Robert Gabriel Mugabe Airport'. The mortal remains will be taken to his hometown which is 85 kms away from Harare and will be placed for public to pay their last respect at a huge stadium. The burial will take place on next Sunday at the National Heros Acre. The shrine is reserved for the revolutionaries of Zimbabwe who played a major role in the war against the white rule and made sacrifices for the country.

Mugabe 'A national hero', says Emmerson Mnangagwa

The current President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa declared Robert Mugabe a "national hero". It is the highest posthumous award in the nation. He even ordered national mourning until Mugabe's burial. He was an ex-guerrilla leader who went on to become the country's first leader post-independence from the 'whites' in the year 1980. He stepped down as the President of Zimbabwe in November 2017 after he was forced to resign by the ruling ZANU PF party. Robert Mugabe's successor Emmerson Mnangagwa was a long term ally who headed many important positions under him.

Repression, bad economic conditions during his reign

The public of Zimbabwe supported the revolutionary Robert Mugabe completely after taking over from the while rule in 1980. He was among the prominent figures who freed his country from the colonial rule in Africa. He focused on education in Zimbabwe and got many new schools built. However, the condition of the nation did not improve under his reign and it saw repression, bad economic conditions in the upcoming decades. The former President was accused of using violence and election-rigging to stay in power. The flags in Zimbabwe flew at half-mast though no such grief was seen among the public over the death of their former leader.
