Rouhani: Iran capable of 90% uranium enrichment

Iran's president said on Thursday that his country was capable of enriching uranium up to 90% "if we wanted to", but it was not on Iran's agenda, state TV reported.

Iran's president said on Thursday that his country was capable of enriching uranium up to 90% "if we wanted to", but it was not on Iran's agenda, state TV reported.

Hassan Rouhani was responding to concerns by European countries over Tehran's announcement it h started 60% uranium enrichment in light of an attack on its Natanz facility.

Negotiations in Vienna between Iran and signatories of 2015 nuclear deal are scheduled to resume on Thursday.

talks are aimed at finding a way for United States to re-enter Tehran's agreement with world powers and have Iran comply again with its limits.

accord, which former President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew U.S. from in 2018, prevented Iran from stockpiling enough high-enriched uranium to be able to pursue a nuclear weapon in exchange for lifting of economic sanctions.
