Russia dismisses US Cyberattack charges on military personnel as 'Russophobia'
Russia President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday said that the alleged cyberattacks were not carried out by the special services.

Russia on October 20 dismissed charges on six Russian military intelligence officers, who are accused by United States of hacking computer networks across globe, and described it as "rampant Russophobia". According to Associated Press, Russian President Vlimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday said that alleged hacking attacks were t carried out by Russian special services, especially one on Olympics.

US alleges Russia of syberattacks
United States Justice Department on October 19 brought indictments against members of Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), a military intelligence ncy of Russian armed forces. six officers were charged for allegedly carrying out attacks in Ukraine, France, and Georgia and also for targetting vichok poisoning investigations using destructive malware. United States alleged that officers of GRU interfered in France's 2017 presidential election and targetted President Emmanuel Macron’s political party prior to polls.

US Department of Justice also accused hackers of targetting organisations that were carrying out investigations into poisoning of former Russian military officer Sergei Skripal, who along with his daughter was poisoned using Soviet-era nerve nt vichok. US alleged that GRU officers carried out attacks on PyeongChang Winter Olympics after Russian athletes were banned from taking part in games over charges of state-sponsored doping.

In dition to this, hackers allegedly targetted global computer networks using a destructive malware kwn as tPetya. malware affected hospitals, a FedEx Corporation subsidiary - TNT Express B.V., a US pharmaceutical manufacturer, among or facilities. Justice Department estimates that attack caused nearly $1 billion in losses.
