'Russia has stopped growth of coronavirus infections', says country's PM Mikhail Mishustin
Russian PM Mikhail Mishustin said on May 18 that the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country has been stopped as it reported less than 9,000 new cases.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on May 18 that spre of vel coronavirus in country has been stopped as it reported less than 9,000 new cases of COVID-19 for first time since beginning of month. Russia has recorded 290,678 cases of coronavirus, which is second-highest in world after US, and 2,722 fatalities. Russian PM himself h tested positive of COVID-19 but he has reportedly said that situation with outbreak even though remains difficult, authorities have “mand to put a stop to growth of infections”.
Russia h begun easing restrictions imposed to contain virus outbreak last week. Russian government has even anunced that national football league would restart by June-end. After witnessing a daily growth of 10,000 new cases of COVID-19, country recorded 8,926 new cases on May 18 which is lowest since it anunced 7,933 new cases on May 1. While talking to country’s coronavirus task force, Mishustin ted that “more and more people are recovering and being discharged from hospitals”.

"We see in this result of systematic work that has been carried out in Russia over past two months," Russian PM said.

Mishustin credits nationwide lockdown
Russian PM credited nationwide lockdown for decrease in number of new infections. According to Mishustin, isolation policy h provided authorities to “gain time and prevent an explosive increase in rate” of coronavirus spre. Even Russain consumer health watchdog chief Anna Popova reportedly said that re has been a plunge in new cases of COVID-19 as country moved towards “ level of stability”.
Last week Russian President Vlimir Putin h anunced partial lifting of lockdown in a televised dress. However, ted that some of restrictions would still remain in place. He also said that lifting of restrictions would be a grual process to avoid second wave of infections.

“ nationwide nworking regime is coming to an end,” Vlimir Putin said. “Grually, and very carefully, we are starting to ease restrictions.”
“I repeat, lifting restrictions will t come fast,” he ded. “We mustn’t allow a fallback, a new wave of epidemic and a rise in grave cases.”
