A massive explosion hit Volgogr, Russia on August 10, injuring at least 13 people. robust blast which ripped through a gas station in southwestern city injured mainly firefighters who were present on scene to douse initial fire. This comes days after horrific explosions shook Beirut, reby prompting people to draw a parallel between two.

Foots of blast, that have emerged online, show an “ermous fireball” shooting into sky over city. As per international media reports, initial fire sparked out following a discharge of static electricity as fuel was pumped from a tanker to an underground stor tank.

As fire intensified, staff evacuated station. However, soon a colossal blast went off causing a larger blaze, which intensified to spre over 1000 square meters. Out of those injured, ten were taken to hospital. A team of seventy-five firefighters tackled fire. In dition, a firefighting robot was also deployed which was remotely steered in centre of fire to extinguish it.

Meanwhile, in aftermath of Beirut blast, WHO has anunced aid for country. As per reports, Director-General Tedros ham Ghebreyesus, during a press briefing on August 10, stated, "From our strategic stockpile in Dubai, WHO immediately sent surgical and major trauma supplies. We released funds from contingency fund for emergencies. Our staff are on ground supporting assessment of impact on health sector with Lebanese and or UN partners. We are shipping USD 1.7 million worth of PPE (personal protective equipment) items to support COVID and humanitarian supplies that were destroyed by blast."
