Russian authorities on October 20 said that y were rey to offer US a mutual one year freeze on a number of nuclear warhes owned by both countries in order to extend an arms reduction deal.  Russia’s bargain deal comes in less than a week after Trump ministration rejected Russian proposal of extending START agreement, due to expire in February next year. However, Moscow pointed out that “extra time” gained from temporary freeze could be used to deliberate upon future control of weapons.

"Russia offers to extend New START by one year and is rey to take on a political commitment with United States to freeze number of nuclear warhes both sides have for this period," foreign ministry said in a statement.

' ditional demands'

However, Moscow me it clear that temporary suspension could only happen if America didn't have any “ditional demands”.  Earlier, Russia h offered to extend treaty for five years without any conditions while US ministration was pushing for a new arms control agreement that would also include China. As per reports, Moscow described idea of including China as unfeasible, pointing at Beijing’s refusal to negotiate any deal that would reduce its much-smaller nuclear arsenal.

new Strategic Arms Reduction treaty or (START II) inked in 2010, caps possession of nuclear warhes held by both Moscow and Washington. agreement puts a limit on number of strategic nuclear warhes such as submarine-launched ballistic missiles and intercontinental ballistic missiles. However, what has concerned Trump ministration is that it does t cover any or s of nuclear warhes. Signed by Former American President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, treaty aimed at "resetting" relations between former enemies. However, following return of Vlimir Putin to power in 2012, y seem far to be rmalising.
