On September 23, Alexander Gabyshev, a shaman who had vowed to utilize his enchantment forces to “purge" Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021, was arrested by armed police in Siberia. Shamans are considered individuals from social and religious networks, which are boundless in Siberia. It is widely believed in the country that shamans attain different levels of spiritual consciousness. According to reports by local Siberian media, before the arrest, Gabyshev said that he tried to create an ‘army’ when he arrived at the Russian capital Moscow. 

'Vladimir Putin a beast'

In his statement to international media, he called Vladimir Putin a beast and demon, and that he has been sent to banish him. He said, “God told me to go and banish the demon…He, Putin, is not human. He’s a beast, a demon”. Gabyshev, who portrays himself as a "shaman warrior", had included that there can be no democracy as long as the demon rules. The Siberian shaman encountered the 'mysterious disclosure' around a half month back. Moreover, in order to exorcise ‘dark spirits’ that were guided by the demon Vladimir Putin, he ventured on a journey from Yakutsk city towards Moscow and would have put an end to it.

About Alexander Gabyshev

Walking all the way, 50-year-old Gabyshev had reportedly completed around 1,700 miles of the 5,000-mile journey towards the Russian capital at the time he was taken into custody. The journey was difficult for Gabyshev, a history graduate who built up an enthusiasm for the enchanted religion after the demise of his wife as she was diagnosed with cancer during the 2000s.

In another bizarre turn of events, a gathering of shamans faithful to the Kremlin, allegedly endeavoured to prevent Gabyshev from entering Buryatiya. The shamans against him wanted to lower the intensity of his political message. It could have brought turmoil for the entire shaman community, it was reported. 
Gabyshev was then arrested from his temporary camp in the Eastern Siberia's republic of Buryatia last Thursday. His arrest has led to human rights groups opposing the move.
