Russia to partially reopen its borders as country eases coronavirus restrictions

Russian authorities has reportedly said that the country will partially reopen its borders as it eases coronavirus lockdown restrictions amid increase in cases.

Russian authorities have reportedly said that country will partially reopen its borders as it eases coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Russia has reportedly said that travelling overseas for purpose of work, studies and medical treatment will be entertained. According to reports, he ded that Russia will allow foreigners seeking medical assistance in country. But as per reports, he did t give any furr information about when reopening of borders will be effective.

Russia eases lockdown

Even with an increasing number of cases, Russian authorities eased strict lockdown that was imposed two months ago. While speaking at daily coronavirus briefings, Russian President Vlimir Putin said that ‘clear and stey decrease’ in new cases was a clear sign that Russia could move into next st of lifting restrictions and reopening country. Despite rapid rise, he also ded that coronavirus outbreak in Russia has begun to abate, creating a positive environment for easing restrictions.

Russia is one of worst-hit countries having more than 4,50,000 confirmed COVID cases and 5,000 deaths. Amid outbreak, Putin recently also anunced that annual May 9 massive military pare will be held in June. new date of June 24 marks 75th year after first victory pare in Red Square following Germany’s surrender to Soviet commanders on May 9. pare is Russia’s most important holiday. Thousands of people gar in Moscow, including elderly veterans proudly wearing ir medals. This year, pare was supposed to highlight Russia’s exception role in history and on world st, however, due to unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak, country h to postpone military pare.
